TI-Based Cable Modems Maintain DOCSIS 1.1 Certification Pass Rate of 100 Percent in CableLabs Certification Wave 23

10/1/2002 - Cable modem customers of Texas Instruments continued their success in Cable Television Laboratories (CableLabs) Certification Waves, with the data over cable service interface specification (DOCSISTM) certification of two customer data cable modems. TI´s customer success is attributed to the maturity of TI´s solution, as well as the ability to test their silicon and software products at TI´s unique testing facility. This facility tests customer´s products to exact DOCSIS 1.0 and 1.1 requirements prior to submitting to CableLabs. TI has maintained a certification pass rate of 100 percent for each of the cable modem vendors who used TI chips and software in Certification Waves 19 through 23.

"TI has been a leading contributor in the development of the DOCSIS specification for the next generation of broadband technology and products," said Michael Harris, president and principal analyst for Kinetic Strategies. "TI has maintained an unparalleled success rate in both DOCSIS and EURO-DOCSIS certifications."

TI is the first and only silicon and software provider to offer a complete, in-house facility to test customer designs based on the DOCSIS 1.0 and 1.1 standards. The TI test facility emulates the test procedures for DOCSIS 1.0 and 1.1 at CableLabs with an emphasis on stability and performance.

This recent certification further demonstrates TI´s expertise in DOCSIS,"said Brett Butler, general manager of TI´s cable broadband communications group. "The investment we have made in advanced systems expertise and test capabilities are bringing tremendous value to TI´s customers."

TI´s DOCSIS certified solutions include highly optimized silicon, hardware, and an open software architecture enabling customers to integrate their own customized and personalized value-added features. TI´s cable broadband communications technology leadership in building DOCSIS certified solutions is a clear demonstration of TI´s focus on delivering production quality system solutions.
