10/1/2002 - Marimba, the Software Change-Management Company, announced that Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management products will be deployed across Océ's global enterprise. Based in more than 30 countries, Océ, a leading provider of digital and document management solutions, will use Marimba technology to manage software assets for its 23,000 employees, a growing number of whom are mobile users.
Initially, Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management software will be rolled out in the UK, France, and Germany. In addition, Océ will embed Marimba technology in its corporate software applications to provide a reliable data transfer service for business critical applications, which are largely used by remote employees.
Benefits for Océ include the centralized management of its global software, reduced administrative and support costs associated with desktop management, and the ability of its mobile users to seamlessly receive and upload their daily application updates. Marimba's software will also help Océ more accurately manage inventory, resulting in hardware and software license savings.
Nico Koole, Océ's chief information officer comments, "With more than 23,000 staff, 30 offices, and a growing mobile workforce, our software needs were becoming increasingly complicated to manage. Our mobile workforce uses a wide range of network connections including dial-up and GSM, several times each day to do their job. The cost and time of these requirements created a whole realm of software issues. We had to have a serious rethink about our software management and make sure that moving forward, we have a uniform strategy to meet desktop and mobile user needs together with water-tight security across the board."
Koole added, "After a careful evaluation of nine management vendors, we chose Marimba as its solutions fit this criteria. We are confident that the cost savings will be huge and administrative burdens will be greatly reduced. And, we will have greater protection against virus attacks, less downtime, and increased productivity for our users."
Adrian Rayner, Marimba's European vice president comments, "Océ is a leading global player in the document management arena and as such, we are thrilled it has chosen to integrate our Software Change-Management solution. Our open architecture will enable our solution to be integrated quickly and easily throughout their enterprise. Océ is committed to reducing costs and improving efficiencies for its customers and we are pleased that our products have the same desired effect on its own business."
Océ supplies consultancy, software, printers and services for professional document applications. With 23,000 employees and a turnover of more than € 3.2 billion, Océ has grown to be a player of global format. Océ is based in Venlo the Netherlands & Poing Germany. Océ has establishments in 30 countries and are active in 80 countries.
