VoIP Bandwidth Requirements Dramatically Reduced With Header Compression

1/14/2002 - Effnet, a leading developer of Internet Protocol (IP) header compression technologies, announced the release of its new Effnet CRTP(TM) software today. The software, ready to begin shipping this quarter, reduces bandwidth requirements for wireline Voice-over-IP (VoIP) by as much as 60% for IPv4, and 75% for IPv6 networks. Media gateways, routers, firewalls, modems and customer premise equipment can deliver significant bandwidth savings by incorporating EffnetEdge(TM) Header Compression technology into their products. These savings can translate to more VoIP channels and improved voice quality at a given bandwidth. This is especially important for Wide Area Network (WAN) access links, where bandwidth consumption is most critical.
