1/15/2002 - Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today introduced the industry's first 14-bit, 40-MSPS CMOS analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from the company's Burr-Brown product line targeting wireless communications, medical imaging, instrumentation and optical networking. The device's CMOS process design provides dramatically lower power consumption than competitive products designed with BiCMOS or complementary bipolar technologies. In addition, the CMOS design allows TI to offer a high-performance 14-bit converter at much lower prices than competition in the 40 to 52MSPS performance range.
