1/18/2002 - Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW) -- a leading provider of hardware, software and services that power enterprises and network computing, reported results today for the second quarter of fiscal year 2002 which ended December 30, 2001. Revenues for the second quarter were $3.108 billion, a sequential increase of 9% compared with revenues reported for the first quarter of fiscal year 2002, and a decrease of 39% compared with the same period a year ago. Net loss for the second quarter was $99 million and the net loss per share was $.03, a sequential improvement of 40% over the net loss per share reported for the first quarter of fiscal year 2002 and a decrease of 121% compared with net earnings per share for the same period a year ago (excluding losses on Sun's equity investment portfolio, restructuring charges, in-process research and development and related tax effects).
