Imagination Technologies Achieves First-Pass Silicon Success On 15 Million-Transistor Design Implemented With Magma Software

1/22/2002 - Magma Design Automation, Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of chip design solutions, today announced that Imagination Technologies Group plc has achieved working silicon for a 15 million-transistor multithreaded DSP processor design with specific capabilities for digital radio. Imagination Technologies implemented the integrated circuit (IC) using Magma's Blast Fusion(TM) physical design system and a flat design methodology. With Blast Fusion, Imagination Technologies' designers were able to cycle the design from validated netlist to GDSII within two days. The META DBX-1 DSP chip for digital radio devices was fabbed in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC) advanced mixed-signal 0.18-micron process technology and will be incorporated into a variety of new entertainment products that will be launched in the second half of 2002.
