End-to-End Wireless USB Solution for Linux and Embedded OS

Jungo and Wisair introduced an end-to-end Wireless USB solution for Linux-based and embedded operating systems used in CE devices. The solution combines Jungo's USBware protocol software stack with Wisair's single chip based Wireless USB reference designs. The new offering enables OEMs to embed Wireless USB into non-Windows CE devices (such as set-top boxes, TV sets, smart phones and DVRs). This will result in more options for consumers to connect external devices, including storage units, with a higher throughput delivered.

Intel Media Processor CE 3100 Supports Adobe Flash

Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) and Intel Corporation will port and optimize Adobe Flash technology for the Intel Media Processor CE 3100. Their partnership will result in richer and more seamless Web-based and video viewing experiences through Intel-based cable set-top boxes, Blu-ray Disc players, digital TVs, and retail connected AV devices.

Debugging Analog Mixed Signal Circuits

All levels of IC design have been impacted by increasing pressure on production costs and time to market. In this situation, one of the major challenges is to avoid silicon failure or yield loss. A widely accepted statistic today is that almost half of all designs fail at first silicon. The semiconductor industry has been slowed by the current economic crisis. According to Gartner, worldwide semiconductor revenue growth in 2009 is expected to be 1%, down by approximately 7 percentage points from previous estimates. Even with the very weak economic environment, semiconductor growth was surprisingly strong until recently. However, the industry is changing this quarter. According to Gartner, there is strong evidence to suggest that the semiconductor industry will see negative growth starting in the fourth quarter of 2008, and that this will continue throughout most of 2009.
