Leveraging VxWin Technology into Next Generation IndraLogic V Soft PLC

Focusing on visualization

Together, IndraLogic V and the control platform IndraControl V give users complete freedom to integrate comprehensive Soft PLC solutions into a wide variety of systems and processes in a scalable modular automation system. The PC basis gives them maximum flexibility when it comes to implementing different control concepts and allows processes to be visualized and operations to be carried out by humans and machines. IndraControl V provides developers with the integrated software environment IndraWorks, which helps to noticeably reduce engineering costs. It is a modular, component-based framework with all the tools necessary for setup, programming, configuration, diagnosis and visualization of system solutions. Thanks to .NET technology, it uses a unified, future-proof software architecture and makes connecting to third-party modules easy.

"With its .NET support, VxWin trumps in this respect also," says Gerd Lammers of KUKA Controls.

Users consider integrated visualization, in particular, to be an important feature of all-in-one solutions. It is a significant advantage that visualization, process control and high-end user interfaces can be developed and executed on one platform. At the same time, the PC with Windows-based system environments opens up the opportunity for additional applications, such as industrial image processing and motion control.

Rexroth has identified a clear trend of continued development in the direction of soft motion alongside high-reliability PC-based systems. Work has already begun in earnest on the new IndraMotion MTXsoft and MLP solutions. These, too, will have standardized components, and will be based on the KUKA Controls VxWin real-time extension. The next generation solutions will therefore benefit from multiprocessor capability, hardware support of boards and improved memory partitioning. At the same time, Rexroth remains committed to an integrated, standardized basic system for all package solutions, to minimize risk and significantly increase time savings.
