New PCL/CNC Uses New Software Technology to Closely Link Motion Control to a PC-based Control System
Rapid Sercos connection
PC-based systems can also be configured as communication centers. In addition to providing the fieldbus interface connection for actuators and sensors, e.g., CANopen, and an Ethernet connection to the enterprise, PC-based systems also offer the ideal platform for interaction with various drives, even those of different manufacturers. Use of the standard Sercos interface ensures high bandwidth communication between the PC and the drives. A further advantage of this interface is that the CNC is relieved of its position control tasks, thereby freeing up its computing capacity substantially. Almost any I/O device can easily be connected to the control systems via field bus couplers.
Summary
Offering the utmost in terms of flexibility, PC-based Motion Control systems provide a level of flexibility unknown in conventional solutions. By means of theVxWin technology deployed worldwide in over 70,000 real-time systems, Schleicher control systems can exploit all advantages offered by PC technology. Thanks to the familiar Windows interface, operators can integrate their own application expertise quickly and seamlessly. PC-based control systems also offer remote diagnosis and maintenance facilities and permit the installation of tools from the various drive manufacturers. The pre-configured Schleicher ProNumeric not only couples the CNC control system to a PLC in accordance with IEC 61131, but it also assures system flexibility and optimized high performance, clearly delivering a technically superior innovation in motion control.
About Schleicher Electronic
Schleicher Electronic was established in 1937 and, thanks to its innovations such as the quartz-controlled timer, the multi-functional time relay and the integrated CNC/PLC solution, now ranks among the pioneers in automation technology. Today the company, which belongs to Wieland holding, develops and produces electronic components and system solutions for reliable automation. A key focus of the product range is the XCx family of fully integrated PLC/CNC control systems. The electronics range includes active system elements such as sequence, motion control and numeric control systems in addition to networking and visual display components. The successful implementation of customer-specific developments and complete system solutions is based on decades of experience, precision application engineering and the close working relationship fostered with customers. At the company base in Berlin, Schleicher constitutes the center of excellence for electronics and system engineering of the Wieland group of companies.
